Does Security Guard Training Make Sense?

By Rob
A security guard%u2019s job is to protect property, assets or people. A security guard is privately employed. We usually see them in malls, churches, schools and etc. They wear uniforms and do their best to keep order within the area in which they work.
The responsibilities and duties of a security guard are:
  • To prevent a crime from happening. They are trained to perform arrest like handcuffing, restraints and etc. and to control situations. They are also trained to operate emergency equipments, perform CPR and first aid.
  • To access and control building entrances and vehicle gates. They make sure that everyone who comes in and out of that building will not do anything that can harm other people. They look at every employee or visitors Identification Cards before they can enter the building.
  • To respond to emergencies.  Major emergencies like guiding emergency responders to the scene of the incident, to help in redirecting foot traffic to a safer location, or to document everything that has happened through an incident report. Minor emergencies like lost persons, lockouts, dead vehicle batteries and etc.
  • To patrol. A security guard is to patrol around the property that he is guarding to make sure that the property is safe.
The reason I took the security guard training is that I wanted to get a better job but now with the unemployment so high I wonder if the security guards training made sense.
